Scale for Resilience: Fostering Resilience Against Climate Change in the Caribbean
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Climate & Green Finance
Room Nic Klecker - 2nd floor

Despite increasing extreme weather events globally, the availability of finance dedicated to increased climate adaptation and resilience for vulnerable communities falls short drastically on the actual needs. The “Scale for Resilience” Initiative aims to make 3 million vulnerable populations more resilient by 2030 by facilitating access to finance for increased resilience along the financial value chain. The session will highlight innovative approaches of member institutions to finance climate adaptation and resilience in a particularly vulnerable region to negative climate impacts: the Caribbean. CoK Sodality will share experiences on the implementation of a digital climate risk management system including the development of climate-smart financial products by leveraging a dedicated taxonomy to finance resilient housing. GAWA Capital will bring in the investor perspective focusing on the Kuali Fund, an innovative blended finance mechanism, dedicated to strengthening the capacity of financial institutions and climate solution providers catering the adaptation and resilience needs of small farmers and SMEs. The session will explore in detail how inclusive resilience finance geared at communities that are particularly vulnerable to adverse climate change effects can be put into action.
