Since completing a master’s programme in international finance, Ms Dörte Weidig has been fascinated by development finance and by the question: What mechanisms and what institutions are best suited to finance growth and development in sustainable ways? Her professional journey immersed her in financial inclusion; she also managed sizeable SME banks, including the ProCredit banks in Haiti and Serbia. As a managing partner of IPC, she advises numerous financial institutions on how to finance MSMEs, with a special focus on chronically underfinanced sectors like agriculture, renewable energy and education. Dörte oversees IPC’s work in SSA, LAC and North Africa. Furthermore, the areas climate action & green transition as well as skills & employment are under her responsibility.
