After decades of progress, food insecurity is increasing around the world, posing a growing crisis for low-income families. 'Inclusive Finance for Food Security & Nutrition' is the topic of the European Microfinance Award 2023, and this evaluation process has shed a fascinating spotlight on the role that inclusive finance organisations can play in addressing this challenge, to support input suppliers, food producers, distributors and consumers - and everyone in between in the food systems value chain. This plenary session (to be followed that evening by the EMA2023 Award ceremony at which the three finalists will be presented and the winner announced) will kick off this thematic stream at the conference, launching e-MFP's latest paper on the topic and bringing together senior experts from across the sector to discuss the challenge of addressing food insecurity, explore the role different stakeholders can play, and inspire further innovation.
